Adapt To Changes In ‘Political Environment' To Win Election - Najib To BN Parties During Meeting

KUALA LUMPUR: All Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties should adapt to the shifting political situations to win in the next general election, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said.

Gerakan vice-president Datuk Dr Dominic Lau said this was one of the reminders from Najib to the component parties today.

“The prime minister has urged all the component parties to be ready for the election,” he said when contacted today.

Najib, who is also BN chairman, chaired the coalition’s pre-election machinery meeting at Putra World Trade Centre here today.

Lau said Najib also told the meeting that component parties should device a new election strategy based on changes in the “political environment”.

“He (Najib) mentions that he wants winnable candidates and that they all need to be assessed by his independent team,” he said.

Lau said there was also a reminder from Najib that they should avoid making any sensitive remarks which could hurt the feelings of coalition members.

On education issue, Lau said Najib emphasised that not a single stream of education should take priority over the other.

“He told us to respect the social contract which was agreed to by former leaders when the country achieved Independence,” he said.

Lau said Gerakan would give full support to BN election candidates regardless of which component party they represented in the next election.
